nutrition Bullshit

Never-ending narrative:

Lately, I’ve been scrolling through YouTube shorts and have noticed a handful of (so-called) “nutrition experts.” One dude that goes by “CoryArmstrong Fitness.” I have no idea who this guy is. However, the method to his madness goes by the eat this, not that concept coined by  David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding. However, his idea is practical for the average joe, easily persuaded by his ripped physique and lacks common sense, which is almost anyone born in the 2000s. For instance, he strolls down the cookie aisle at his local Walmart and compares Oreos with Quest Bars. This, to me, proves that he is dealing with toddlers that lack deductive reasoning skills.

Another guy calls himself the “CarnivoreMD,” aka Paul Saladino (it’s all in a name, folks), as he pushes eating meat, unpasteurized dairy, bananas, and other fruit that spike glycemic index, and not using seed oils. This guy also uses the eat this, not that concept by visiting fast-food restaurants and grocery stores. His claim to fame is for demonizing seed oils, veggies, and artificial sweeteners. Now, this sounds good on the surface. However, if you dig deep, you will realize that finding unpasteurized dairy is next to impossible if you live in the US, and eating seed oil, especially grapeseed oil, isn’t that bad, as it has a high smoke point and doesn’t transfer its flavor into your food. And finally, Paul pushes bananas like there is no tomorrow, which, as I mentioned, is a fruit that is one of the highest on the glycemic index and will spike your blood sugar levels higher than eating processed sugar., not to mention that the bananas of yesterday are not the same today, as they are highly genetically modified to be seedless.

I’m not an expert:

However, I use common sense, deductive reasoning, and experience to go against the grain and pave my own path on choosing the proper foods to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Never mentioned:

  • Black Beans – Black beans are one of the perfect foods and are high in protein and fiber. Yes, they are high in carbs (21g); however, they are packed with fiber(9g) and protein (7g), which absorb the carbs, bringing them down to 5g.
  • Farro – Farro is ancient wheat high in fiber, protein,  and other minerals like magnesium, iron, and zinc. You can use farro in place of rice, as it has similar characteristics and takes on any flavor you give it.
  • Coconut Sugar – Coconut sugar tastes a bit like brown sugar. However, it somehow can trick glucose levels, which won’t spike them, making it a better alternative than all the chemically processed sweeteners and cane sugar.
  • Maple Syrup – Maple syrup is another sweetener that can trick glucose levels.
  • Lentils – Lentils are a legume that, like their peanut butter counterpart, won’t frustrate you by adding more lbs to your hard work. Lentils are the world’s perfect food. After doing copious amounts of research on lentils, I found a tidbit that convinced me they have a bit of merit; the gladiators ate lentils for every meal. Like black beans, lentils are high in carbs (22g), but they are high in protein (9g) and fiber (4g) which at the end of the day brings the carbs down to 9g.
  • Coconut oil – Yet another oil demonized by the mainstream and never mentioned by Paul Saladino as good or bad. Coconut oil is a source of healthy fat, which can burn fat and promotes healthy skin from the inside out!
  • Kalamata Olives – Kalamata olives can manage your cholesterol level, digestive issues, blood sugar, and digestive health.
  • Coconut Cream – Coconut cream is a source of healthy fat, and like its counterpart, coconut oil can assist in burning fat. Every morning, I put it over my berries topped with organic honey.
  • Whipping Cream – Whipping cream is an alternative to unpasteurized dairy. Drinking or using anything less is pointless. Your brain requires fat (and cholesterol) to stay healthy, and animal fats and healthy fats are excellent for your brain health.
  • Kamut Flakes – Kamut flakes are the biggest secret in the history of the biggest secrets. The quaker would roll over in his grave if the word got out on how amazing they were. You won’t find Kamut flakes in the oatmeal section. I have  seen Kamut flakes in a couple of grocery stores in the bulk section; otherwise, you can only get them on AMAZON.   Unlike oatmeal, Kamut has a buttery/nutty flavor and doesn’t clump together, and isn’t mushy after cooking.  Kamut has fewer calories (140) compared to oatmeal at 150 calories. Now, it does have more carbs (28g) compared to oatmeal (27g). However, it has more fiber (3g) and a whopping 7g of protein, which is why Kamut flakes are a better choice!
