post-rock
I was late to the world of post-rock. However, as they say, it’s better late than never. Post-Rock is a blend of electronically generated coupled with copious amounts of shredding guitar, with an occasional vocal. Most bands are one-man bands and incorporate other musicians while on tour. The genre started in the UK in the mid-90s and spread into Canada and the US. However, it spread like wildfire into Russia, Ukraine, and Poland.
forever lost ~ God is an astronaut
Niels and Torsten Kinsella, twin brothers, must be fans of Zecharia Sitchin’s ancient astronaut theory. Nevertheless, this song is the perfect example of an ideal post-rock composition. By the way, unlike Liam and Noel Galleger, Niels and Torsten get along.
Farewell my friend ~ There’s a light
There’s a Light is another band that is the poster child of the perfect Post-Rock band, as they couple ambient with a layer of acoustic and electric guitar. This particular track comes from their sophomore record, A long lost silence. Get ready to be moved out of your body into another realm with this one!
my own universe ~ sleep dealer
Russa’s Sleep Dealer was formed in 2009 by Vadim, and like most Post Rock bands, Vadim is a muti-instrumentalist playing the Bass, Keys, guitar, and samples. My Own Universe is from the 2017 album Aurora and is a perfect example of straight kick-ass post-rock.
creature ~ the chasing monster
Italy’s the Chasing Monster was born in 2014 and consists of LeonardCapotondi (Lead Guitar)
Edoardo De Santis (Drums)
Riccardo Muzzi (Bass)
Federica Sciamanna (Rhythm Guitar)
Alessio Bartocci (Rhythm Guitar)
Creature features a unique blend of spoken word coupled with a unique hook that will reach the depths of your soul:
We can’t be together forever, I know, It would be beautiful, but you’re too scared to get used to it. One day you’ll be alone. It’s too hard to accept. Too sad to bear because the happiness of tomorrow daydreams to forget the unhappiness of today. And when this moment arrives, it’s hard to gather the strength to start over on your own. I would have rather been this way from the start, For being forgotten, is worst than dying.
If I were the sky and you were the earth, divided by nature, I would let the rain fall on you so that it could keep us close, eternally. I would let every single drop echo the sound of our words; I would let the rain fall relentlessly. But the only thing soaking the earth are my tears, And if I keep crying, it means that my body surrendered to my heart. There is nothing left to do, Nothing that could keep you close, Nothing could ever make me live through that thing we called love. The one thing I can do is try to say goodbye.
