songs to the vault
A list of some of the greatest songs ever recorded. However, it’s time for them to go into a vault, never be played again.
In the air tonight ~ Phil Collins
Yes, the mysterious song by Phil Collins must go. However, the famous fill (Phil) will be preserved.
the entire rolling Stones portfolio (Except gimme shelter)
It’s not a secret that the Rolling Stones are one of the most overrated bands. However, there is one joint that will never get old for me, “Gimme Shelter,” especially Mary Clayton’s backing vocals. This is the reason why it will always remain out of the vault. If the entire Stones collection were of this caliber, there would be no need to vault it.
cocaine ~ eric clapton
Although Cocaine was initially written and performed by JJ Cale, Eric Clapton made it famous. Although, Eric didn’t deviate from JJ’s version, the drug-crazed song is one of the most recognizable songs in the history of rock n’ roll; in fact, I’m going to go out on a limb and say its popularity is up there with Stairway to Heaven (no pun intended). However, I could never share the joy that the majority exhibit when the song comes on the radio. I refer to the song as “Propane,” but I digress. So for that, let’s blow the bitch up and call it a day.
money for nothing ~ dire straights
As I was sitting and thinking about songs to add to this list, “Skateaway,” one of the most underrated songs in Dire Straights portfolio, popped up on my playlist. Then it hit me: the next song has to be “Money for Nothing,” the most overrated, overplayed song in the Dire Straights portfolio. The fact that it featured Sting was fucking cool. However, in reality it was more of a plug for MTV, which (in my opinion) was the band’s demise.
cars ~ Gary Numan
Back in the day, the majority thought “Cars” was the band “The Cars,” which is false. It’s from a dude called Gary Numan. I’m certain it was his job to confuse the masses into thinking it was the band “The Cars,” as the song coincided with the popularity of the band “The Cars,” as the release of “Let’s Go” was released in June of 1979 and “Cars” was released in August of 1979. Nevertheless, the song remains a cult classic, as I want to lay the fucking thing to rest.
